On Saturday, after watching the All Blacks take out the Tri Nations tournament against Australia on a big screen at a pub in Islington, Nicola and I went down to Chelsea for a bit of a walk around King's Road. We did a bit of shopping, ate pizza al fresco, and lay under a tree in Hyde Park.
We also stopped by the Victoria and Albert museum where we came across a "design your own textile" PC kiosk. You could make choices of colour, pattern, flower type, flower colour etc. When you're done you are invited to email your creation to yourself. I did. So, here above is my first foray into textile design. Suddenly I'm lamenting. At five I loved my mother's homemade "Thunderbirds are Go!" and "Bionics forever" t-shirts (Thanks Mum!). Now, if it's not on the shelves of some King's Road retailer... On Sunday morning I got up early, cleared the weeds from in front of our house, and made a rock garden.
P.S. If you're wondering about the bracketed title, it's a reference to this Elvis (not that Elvis).

I can see from that face how
I can see from that face how delighted you were to be wearing "Thunderbird 2"! In the mid-1990s there was something of a revival of Thunderbirds, so we got to enjoy their charms all over again with other small fans. The local toy library was even hiring out a hotly-contested Tracy Island model, complete with all the vehicles, sound-effects buttons and recline-on-demand palm trees! On the TV, I especially enjoy the way the camera respects the characters - the close-up of a face in some tense moment, to capture the nuances of expression that a living actor would have given, and the puppet was surely about to deliver any moment.
Good to hear you keeping up with the All Blacks triumphant progress through the rugby world, continued today in Cardiff - yay! Another example of impressive young men saving the world and entertaining at the same time!
Oh yes
Oh yes, I took in the All Blacks vs Wales game at the Temple Walkabout, along with several pints... So what does F.A.B. stand for? On the wall of Molly Malones is a photo revealing that, before its 80s refurbishment, Wellington's CMC building was resplendent with 20-foot high lettering announcing "Fords Are British". Probably not that.
FAB...
I have just looked at the official website - www.thunderbirds.com and found this Q & A session with Gerry Anderson....
Joseph: What does F.A.B. stand for?
In the 1960's the buzz word was fabulous this became shortened to FAB and we use FAB as a code meaning your message has been received and understood.
Sorry, got that wrong -
Sorry, got that wrong - www.thunderbirdsonline.com. Actually "Fords are British" really can't be topped.
